Pronghorns wrap up Calgary road series

CALGARY – The Pronghorns dropped a pair of matches to the No. 4-ranked Calgary Dinos, falling 3-0 Thursday before suffering a narrow 1-0 loss Friday night at McMahon Stadium.

Calgary opened the scoring five minutes before halftime Thursday, before adding goals in the 51st and 66th minutes to secure the victory. The Dinos outshot Lethbridge 15-1, while goalkeeper Kate Prince made four saves to keep the Pronghorns within reach through the opening half.

The Pronghorns showed resilience in Friday's rematch, holding the high-powered Dinos to a single goal. Lethbridge goalkeeper Heidi Andres turned aside eight shots, including five saves in the first half, as the hosts continued to generate scoring chances.

Calgary broke through in the 27th minute, with Erica Mysko finding the back of the net following a throw-in to give the Dinos a 1-0 lead. The Pronghorns continued to battle defensively, but were unable to find an equalizer. Brynn Birnie recorded Lethbridge's lone shot on target in the 70th minute.

The results move the Pronghorns to 2-10-1 in Canada West play, while Calgary remains unbeaten at 12-0-0.

Lethbridge returns home to host the Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. at the University of Lethbridge Community Stadium.
