Who We Are
The Pronghorns Booster Club is comprised of interested community members, coaches, athletic staff and alumni. And - we are always looking for NEW MEMBERS!
The Pronghorn Booster Club generates and donates thousands of dollars annually to the athletics department, enabling the U of L to maintain its quality athletic programs, community involvement and high competitive standards.
History
The Pronghorn Booster Club was founded during a period of time when funding arrangements for Pronghorn Athletics were in a state of uncertainty. Formed to secure the future of varsity sports at the U of L, the club was officially incorporated as a society on February 22, 1994.
Dawn Keith (the club’s first president), Murray McAuley, Brenda Boughton, Terry Innes, Dorothy Stein and Bruce Vance were among the founding members.
Programs such as Operation Red Nose, and events such as the Annual Pronghorn Booster Club Dinner/Auction and Casino, play an integral role in promoting Pronghorn Athletics and encouraging various groups and businesses to show their support. The Pronghorn Booster Club is administered by a volunteer board of directors and has, to date, helped raise nearly half a million dollars.
Athletic Scholarship Programs
While fundraising continues to be a primary focus of the Pronghorns Booster Club, the varsity teams are now well established, enabling us to focus on funding athletic scholarships. Each team receives an equal share of the monies and administers its own plan.

Fundraising
50/50 and Raffle Tickets
While 50/50 tickets are generally sold during varsity games, raffles are often conducted by individual teams under the Booster Club licence. In 2007 the women’s soccer team held a raffle enabling them to fund a portion of a trip to the U.K.

Casino info
Alberta has adopted the charitable gaming model for casinos, bingo, raffles and pull tickets. These gaming activities may only occur when eligible charitable or religious groups apply for and receive licences to conduct the gaming activities.
Fortunately, the Pronghorn Booster Club is one of the non-profit organizations eligible to apply for a gaming licence and share in a portion of the revenue to benefit Pronghorn athletes. [Link]
Lux Bucks
The Booster Club launched a monthly 50-50 draw with the proceeds directly supporting each Pronghorn program. Draws are held the last working day of the month.
