Lethbridge, AB – The Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 28, 2021.

Female Athlete of the Week:
Haily Weaver – Women’s Basketball

Helping the Pronghorn women’s basketball team to a pair of victories, transfer Haily Weaver had her two most productive games in a Pronghorn jersey, recording consecutive double-doubles versus the Mount Royal Cougars.

The fourth-year forward, who transferred from Victoria, scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 65-56 win over the Cougars Friday night.

Saturday night, Weaver scored a game high 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds, four steals, two assists and a block in the Pronghorns convincing 74-48 win to complete the sweep.

For her efforts last weekend, she was also named the Canada West women’s basketball player of the week.

On the season, Weaver is averaging 9.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Weaver and the Pronghorn women’s basketball team will host the MacEwan Griffins this weekend to wrap up the first semester of Canada West action.

 Male Athlete of the Week:
Apollo Hess – Men’s Swimming

Adding to an already impressive debut season, first-year swimmer Apollo Hess took the conference by storm this past weekend and put forth an exceptional performance at his first Canada West Swimming Championships in Edmonton.

After rewriting the Pronghorn record book earlier this season, Hess broke two Canada West records and returned home with five conference medals. He was also named both the Swimmer and Rookie of the meet.

On Friday night, Hess broke the Canada West record in the 50 metre breaststroke en route to his first Canada West gold medal and then closed the meet breaking the record in the 200 metre breaststroke, picking up gold in that event. He also picked up a silver medal in the 100 metre breaststroke and was on the men’s relay teams that picked up silver and bronze medals.

Hess now begins preparations for the U SPORTS Championships, hosted by the Laval Rouge et Or, February 25-27 in Quebec City.
