With the result of Sunday’s game, Manitoba’s record progresses to 2-7-3, while Lethbridge is still searching for a win, at 0-9-3.

The Bisons looked great, breaking in on net at will, and putting up a ton of shots and chances in the game. Manitoba’s only goal was scored by Alison Flintoft, with the assist by Alison Kastner. The Bisons’ goaltender was Chloe Werle, who made seven saves during the game.

Lethbridge’s lone goal was scored by Erika Anderson, and there were no assists. The Pronghorns’ goalie was Taura Willoughby, who made 11 saves.

The first half saw a quick start for the Manitoba Bisons, as more than once a player managed to break in alone on the Pronghorns’ net minder Taura Willoughby, but could never manage to get a shot on net before being intercepted by a pursuing defence player.

The Bisons scored first, in the 15th minute after yet another defensive lapse by Lethbridge. In behind the defence, Alison Kastner sent a hard pass in front of the net to Alison Flintoft who had no problem kicking it into the open net, and giving the Bisons a 1-0 lead.

Despite what appeared to be a lackluster performance by the Pronghorns, in the 35th minute Erika Anderson broke away down the side of the field, and launched a shot towards the Bisons’ net. At a sharp angle, Anderson managed to send the ball just over top of Manitoba’s Chloe Werle’s head, tying the game at 1-1 to send it into the second half.

The second half of the game was fast and furious as both teams were eager to break the tie and give their team a ‘W’.

Just before the halfway mark of the second, Lethbridge’s best opportunity to pull ahead came when Kelsey Dempster fired a shot from the side of the net that Werle couldn’t manage to get a hand on. While it looked like the ball was destined for the mesh, it just managed to hit the left post and bounce back into play, preserving the tie.

Manitoba continued to put a ton of pressure on the Pronghorns, but just couldn’t find a winning marker. As time wound down past the 85-minute mark, the Bisons were putting shot after shot on net, but Lethbridge’s defence and goaltender continued to gobble up their chances.

Despite a strong effort by both teams, the final whistle blew at 1-1 and the game would finish in a tie.

The 'Horns return home next weekend to wrap up the season, hosting Trinity Western and UBC.
