Boxscore

The game was all Dinos, with Calgary in control of the puck the majority of the game and out shooting the visiting 'Horns by an impressive 41-13 margin.

A five-on-three advantage for the Dinos early in the first period of the game led to some excellent scoring opportunities for the home squad, with a Hayley Wickenheiser slap shot going just wide off the right goal post.

The Dinos were the first squad to light the lamp with a Stephanie Ramsey shot from the blue line that was redirected by Wickenheiser past Lethbridge goalie Crystal Patterson. The goal came at 14:25 into the first period and was Wickenheiser’s second of the year.

The 'Horns tied things up at 16:02 in the second period of play. After some chaos in front of the Dinos net, Pronghorn rookie forward Sadie Lenstra beat Amanda Tapp right side.

Only 39 seconds after the Lenstra goal, the Dinos reclaimed their lead with an unassisted Iya Gavrilova goal, her second of the season.

The Dinos added some cushion to the lead with a power play goal at 8:18 of the third period. Fourth-year forward Elana Lovell capitalized on a rebound left by Patterson and beat the goalie left side for her first on the year.

For the visiting Pronghorns it was too little too late, as they tried to mount a push but could not manage to get anything past Tapp to overcome their two-goal deficit.

The Pronghorns were 0-for-3 on the power play while the Dinos managed to go 1-for-8 with the advantage. Tapp had 12 saves in the game, while Pronghorns goalie Patterson fanned away 38 shots on the night.

With this loss Lethbridge moves to a 4-2-0 record, while the Dinos move to 3-1-0 on the year.

On tap for the 'Horns next weekend will be series against the University of Alberta Pandas, while the Dinos will be home for two games against the UBC Thunderbirds.
