Looking to bounce back after a tough 1-0 loss, Friday night, the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns were eager to earn a split of the weekend series against the visiting UBC Thunderbirds.

Lethbridge opened the scoring at 4:33 as Reeves, unassisted, unloaded a hard wrister top shelf beating Lemon, her fourth of the season.

Moments later, a frantic scramble in front of the net allowed Imai to answer back for the T-Birds while on the power play. After turning aside the first two attempts, a down and out Patterson was unable to reach the floating puck as Imai chipped it up, over, and in, knotting the game at ones.

Outshot 14-9 in the first, Lethbridge continued to push the pace in the second, creating good chances offensively. Their hard work paid off less than four minutes into the frame as Bailey notched her second of the season, from Reeves and Durnin, re-establishing the lead.

The ‘Horns looked to widen the gap in the early minutes of the third and Sarah Spence answered the call; corralling a loose rebound, the rookie winger fired a hard angle shot on net that soared past the unsuspecting net-minder.

With momentum still in their favour, Lethbridge continued to out-hustle their opponents. Making the most of a neutral-zone turnover, Frasca found herself with breakaway chance and rose to the occasion, skillfully out-manoeuvring Lemon with a high blocker side backhand.

With this win the Pronghorns improve to 2-3-1, while the Thunderbirds fall to an even 2-2-2. The ‘Horns travel to Edmonton next weekend to face-off against the first place Pandas. UBC returns to the coast, briefly, prior to heading East to Saskatoon, next weekend, when they visit the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
