Box Score Saskatoon - With a goal in the final minute of regulation play, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies clinched a spot in the Canada West postseason.

Saskatchewan defeated the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Saskatoon’s Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park.

Tied at one with the clock ticking down, Huskie striker Scott Myrah sent the ball to leading scorer Brett Levis down the middle of the field. Levis slid the ball past ‘Horns keeper Tyler Boast into the left side of the net in the 90th minute for the victory.

With the win, the Huskies move to 6-5-3, locking up one of three postseason spots in the Canada West’s Prairie Division. Lethbridge, who also had a shot at locking down a spot in the playoffs with success over the Huskies, drop to 4-5-5 and will be on the outside looking in.

After both teams had trouble getting the ball out of midfield, Lethbridge was able to break free to open the scoring in the 25th minute. Matt Medoruma put a ball on the foot of Dominic Point du Jour. His shot deflected off of Huskie keeper Mark Diakiw’s hand and into the net.

Saskatchewan tied the game in the 68th minute. Veteran fullback Nick Clarke’s header found the net off of the corner kick by Levis.

In the 83rd minute, Lethbridge had a chance to break the tie. Morgan Brownjohn was awarded a free kick within the 20-yard box but his shot was scooped up easily by Diakiw.

Diakiw made five saves in the win, while Boast also made five at the other end of the pitch.

The two teams will meet again Sunday at 2:15 p.m. in Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park for the final match of the Canada Westregular season. At the match, the Huskies will honour fifth-year athletes Dion Morgan, Mark Diakiw, Nick Clarke and Scott Malek.
