Campbell got the Pandas on the board early, with the first of four power-play markers in the game, wristing a shot glove side from the top of the circle at the 4:33 mark of the opening frame.
Clawing back twice in the game, the No.4 University of Alberta Pandas kept their winning streak alive thanks to third-year forward Hayley Helland, who scored the winner in extra time, taking a 4-3 victory over the Lethbridge Pronghorns, Friday night at Clare Drake Arena in Edmonton
Bailey continued the special teams’ potency in the second, redirecting an Amy Van Buskirk point shot low to Michala Jeffries’ stick side at 11:04 to knot the game at one.
With 5:11 left to go in the middle frame, the Oak Lake, Man. native made another great deflection to put Lethbridge ahead, but Malcolm evened the scales back at two with a greasy goal only 1:24 later, shoveling in a rebound off a Brandi Buss point shot.
A man-advantage opportunity early in the third led to the Pronghorns grabbing the lead yet again, Spence tallying on a wraparound at the 4:23 mark.
The resilient Panda squad replied with a relentless offensive pressure, Moskalski sweeping a backhand rebound over the pad of third-year netminder Crystal Patterson with just 7:53 left to go in the third period.
A late two-on-one by the Pandas in the final minute almost prevented the overtime session, but Patterson held her ground against Moskalski’s close-proximity slapper, earning Lethbridge the single point.
Bailey’s slashing call seven seconds into the extra frame gave Alberta a four-on-three power-play, however, and Helland, from the top of the slot, roofed a deceivingly slow slapshot to the glove side at the 1:47 mark of OT.
The Pronghorns went an impressive 2-3 on the man-advantage while the Pandas finished 2-6.
Lethbridge will have another chance at stopping Alberta’s winning streak tomorrow night at Clare Drake Arena. Puck drop is at 6 PM MT.
