Box Score
Lethbridge, AB – It was definitely not a game the ‘Horns will write home about but the team rallied in the second half to earn a second consecutive draw with the Winnipeg Wesmen, 1-1.

With the tie, the ‘Horns have now earned points in seven consecutive matches and their record moves to 3-2-4. Winnipeg’s record now stands at 0-7-3.

Ross Pinhammer opened the scoring in the first half for the Wesmen, while Scott Slomp responded for the Pronghorns in a chippy affair that saw the teams combine for 32 fouls.

A day after the ‘Horns and Wesmen battled to a 90 minute draw, in a game in which the ‘Horns controlled the play and outshot the Wesmen 22-4, today was a different story with the ‘Horns attack looking out of sync the entire match. Despite attempting 21 shots Sunday afternoon, the ‘Horns struggled to find their range.

The Wesmen opened the scoring just as the game got to the six minute mark. Pinhammer lined up a free kick from the 25 yard mark and his strike moved around the ‘Horns wall and found the low left corner.

On one of the few offensive sequences that connected, the ‘Horns nearly knotted the score in the 14th minute. Shlomo Swan-Azman was sent in alone on a break-away but Tyson Farago charged off his line to make the save.

Heading into the second half, despite the ‘Horns playing with some desperation, it was the Wesmen that were the most dangerous and nearly extended their lead.

Richard Randle found himself on the finishing end of a nice give-and-go play but his shot from 30-yards out hit the post. Moments later, ‘Horns keeper Tyler Boast made a nice diving save from a shot off the foot of Scott Ansell.

With their consecutive point steak on the line, the ‘Horns were finally rewarded off a corner kick in the 79th minute. Dominique Point du Jour’s corner was redirected by Slomp deep in the Wesmen box and found the lower right corner to knot the game at one.

Despite both teams urgently pushing forward at every opportunity in the final 11 minutes, neither team truly threatened to score the game winning goal.

Boast finished the day with five saves for the ‘Horns, while his counterpart Farago made seven stops.

The ‘Horns will head out on the road next weekend for two games in Calgary versus the Mount Royal Cougars, before returning home the following weekend for their final homestand of the season.
