Lethbridge – In a match up that always produces intense and physical play, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men’s soccer team (0-2-0) host the Calgary Dinos (0-1-0) in the front half of a home-and-home series Saturday afternoon, which will also serve as the ‘Horns home opener. The back half of the weekend set will go Sunday in Calgary. Kick-off for Saturday’s game is set to follow the women’s game at 2:00pm at the University Community Stadium.
The ‘Horns opened the conference schedule last weekend on the road and were handed a pair of losses by the Trinity Western Spartans and UBC Thunderbirds respectively. Despite returning 15 players from last season’s team, the ‘Horns have 12 new faces to push the returns this season for playing time and will produce healthy competition within the team. A number of new comers earned valuable playing time last weekend in hostile territory.
The Dinos, who swept the season series with the ‘Horns last season, also opened the conference schedule last weekend on the road versus the same opponents as the ‘Horns. In the season opener, the Dinos were defeated by UBC Thunderbirds 3-0 but rebounded the next day with a 1-1 draw with the Trinity Western Spartans.
The ‘Horns will also be at home next weekend hosting the Fraser Valley Cascades and Victoria Vikes.
