Lethbridge – After a tough road trip to open the Canada West season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women’s soccer team (0-2-0 CW) hits the home pitch for the first time this season.

The ‘Horns kick-off the home portion of the 2012 Canada West schedule hosting one of the newest Canada West schools Saturday in the Mount Royal College Cougars (0-2-0 CW), then host long time provincial rival Alberta Pandas (1-0-1 CW) Sunday.

Both games kick-off at 12:00pm at the University Community Stadium.

With 11 new players, the young ‘Horns were thrown right into the fire last weekend to open the season, taking on two of the top teams in the conference in the Trinity Western Spartans and UBC Thunderbirds. Despite the two losses, goaltender Taura Willoughby was a bright spot for the ‘Horns as she made 23 saves in the two games, which leads the conference.

For the Cougars, they received a rude welcome to Canada West last weekend, also on the road. In their inaugural Canada West conference game, the Fraser Valley Cascades blanked the Cougars 3-0 and were shutout the next day as well, 5-0 by the University of Victoria.

Always a contender in the conference, the Alberta Pandas opened the Canada West season with a win and a tie, tying the Vikes 1-1 and defeating the Fraser Valley Cascades 2-1.

The ‘Horns will remain at home next weekend as well, hosting the Cascades and Vikes.
