Box Score
Lethbridge – On the strength of three goals in each half the CIS seventh ranked Alberta Pandas dispatched the Lethbridge Pronghorns 6-0 in Canada West women’s soccer action.

Kayla Michaels led the way for the Pandas with three goals, while Katie Wilkinson, Carleigh Miller and Elise Emmont each had singles.

The Pandas earned full marks for the victory, playing their ball control game to perfection and applying constant pressure on the Pronghorns.

Before the game was even two minutes old, Wilkinson and Michaels connected to open the scoring. Wilkinson found Michaels with a cross to the back post and she made no mistake.

After a Panda was taken down in the box, Miller converted the penalty to double the Panda lead only 11 minutes in.

The ‘Horns would finally test Panda goalkeeper Kelti Briggs from a set piece in the 28th minute. Kim Shellenberg’s shot forced Briggs to tip the shot off the bar.

Wilkinson rounded out the opening half scoring, being the beneficiary of a fortunate bounce. A cross from out wide deflected off a ‘Horns defender and off Wilkinson and into the back of the net.

The second half was a mirror image of the first with Michaels scoring in the 47th minute and completing the hat trick in the 62nd minute. Emmont rounded out the scoring, sailing a shot over ‘Horns substitute keeper Taylor Thomas, who came on for Taura Willoughby to start the half.

With the loss the ‘Horns fall to 1-3-0 and the Pandas remain undefeated at 2-0-2.

Next up for the ‘Horns is another home standing next weekend, hosting the Fraser Valley Cascades and Victoria Vikes Saturday and Sunday respectively. The Pandas only see action in one game next weekend, hosting the Mount Royal Cougars Sunday afternoon.
