Lethbridge – Three unanswered third period goals led the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns to a 5-2 win over the University of Calgary Dinos and a weekend split with the Dinos.

Lethbridge goals were scored by Sadie Lenstra, Kirsten Reeves, Sarah Spence, Megan Bailey and Amber Yuha. Jessyka Holt and Janelle Parent each earned individual markers for the Dinos.

Shauntelle Williams got the start for Lethbridge and turned aside 29 of the 31 shots she faced, while Amanda Tapp was in net for Calgary and she faced 43 shots on the night.

Returning home for game two of a home-and-home series, the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns were eagerly looking for a weekend split after a tough 2-1 loss in Calgary, Friday night, at Father David Bauer arena.

The Dinos struck first in the opening five minutes of play. In close, Janelle Parent secured her own rebound and buried the loose puck past Williams.

Lethbridge tied things up at 14:19. Carrying the puck out of the corner and into the slot, Sarah Spence found Reeves in front who then cut left, out-waited Tapp, and skillfully placed the puck five-hole under the keeper's outstretched pad, netting her second of the season.

Calgary's second goal of the night came early in the second as Holt added a quick goal, from Calaine Inglis, just three minutes into the frame, and regained the lead for her team.

As the 'Horns looked to knot things up a second time, they upped the offensive pressure and it soon paid off. In position on the doorstep, Bailey managed to contain a loose puck amid a flurry of bodies and lifted a quick wrister past Tapp.

Early in the third period, Ericka Mitschke and Brownwyn Stevens found themselves on a breakout 2-on-1 and came flying into the 'Horns end. Mitschke sent a soft pass to Stevens but she wouldn't manage to beat Williams, who turned to make the save in time.

Trading scoring chances at each of the ice, both teams were looking for the difference maker in the third. Amber Yuha put a shot on net from the right point, from Burke, that snuck past an unsuspecting Tapp and gave Lethbridge their first lead of the game at 11:00.

The 'Horns didn't let up the pressure. Minutes later, Sarah Spence added to her team's lead after capitalizing on a misplay in front of the Dinos net.
Before the end of the period, the 'Horns would add one more; this time a hard off-angle shot by Yuha was kicked wide by Tapp but Lenstra was there to snatch the rebound and bang it home.

With this win, the 'Horns improve to 2-2-2 (CW) while the Dinos fall to 2-3-1 (CW). Both teams are back in action next weekend, however as the Dinos return home to face off against the visiting University of Manitoba Bisons and the Pronghorns play host to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
