Late Goal Lifts 'Horns to a Draw with Wesmen

Winipeg - A late goal in regulation time by Pronghorns defender Conner Brady gave the visiting Lethbridge Pronghorns a 1-1 tie against the University of Winnipeg Wesmen on a cool, windy Friday night in Winnipeg.

Brady took a pass from Morgan Brownjohn in the 85th minute and floated a shot just out of the reach of Wesmen goalkeeper Joshua Partaker.

Winnipeg scored their lone goal in the 44th minute with Adam Bromley scoring his team leading fourth goal of the season on a perfect set up from Kenny Sacramento just before the halftime break.

The visiting Pronghorns had control of the contest in the opening 10 minutes of the game keeping the action on the Wesmen side of the field. Winnipeg came to live soon after and managed to get several good shots on Lethbridge goalkeeper Tyler Boast. Winnipeg's efforts were rewarded with Bromley's goal to give the hometown Wesmen a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Winnipeg had 11 total shots in the opening half compared to six for the Pronghorns.

In the second half Winnipeg once again carried the play and was looking for another goal to extend their lead but the Pronghorns had other ideas as the managed to tie the match with a late goal. Both teams pressed in extra time but neither team was able to get the winning goal therefore settling for a 1-1 draw.

The Wesmen finished the contest with 21 total shots compared to 10 for the Pronghorns. Partaker made five saves for the Wesmen while Boast made eight for Lethbridge.

Winnipeg now sports a record of 2-4-3 while Lethbridge sees their record go to 2-6-1.

The two teams will wrap up their pivotal two match series on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex.
