SASKATOON —The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns opened their 2026 Canada West campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to the Saskatchewan Huskies on Friday night at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.

The Pronghorns found themselves trailing early, as Saskatchewan opened the scoring in the fifth minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Lethbridge responded in the 35th minute, with forward and former Huskie Robert Woodroffe-Brown finding the back of the net to level the match at 1-1. Alessio Gusciglio created the opportunity, setting up Woodroffe-Brown for the equalizer.

The Huskies regained the lead just before halftime, scoring in the 43rd minute to take a 2-1 advantage into the break.

Saskatchewan added to its lead early in the second half, scoring in the 49th minute to make it 3-1.

The Pronghorns continued to battle and cut the deficit in the 65th minute. Woodroffe-Brown converted from the penalty spot for his second goal of the night, bringing Lethbridge back within one at 3-2.

Lethbridge continued to push for an equalizer late, but adverse weather conditions brought the match to an early conclusion in the 85th minute.

Woodroffe-Brown's two-goal performance provided the offensive highlight for the Pronghorns, who showed resilience throughout the contest and continued to battle until the final whistle.
