Lethbridge – While the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team (2-7-1 CW) has not officially been eliminated from post-season contention, if there is going to be a push for the playoffs it needs to start this weekend versus the UNBC Timberwolves (1-5-2 CW).
The 'Horns will host the Timberwolves Saturday afternoon for one game, kick-off is scheduled for 2:15pm, following the women's game versus the UBC Thunderbirds.
With five games remaining in the Canada West season, the 'Horns trail the Alberta Golden Bears by seven points for the third and final playoff spot in the Prairie Division and do not face any division rivals in those final five games.
The 'Horns will travel to face the Victoria Vikes and Fraser Valley Cascades next weekend before closing out the regular season the following week hosting the UBC Thunderbirds and TWU Spartans.
Offensively challenged this season, the Pronghorns have suffered four one-goal losses and only one of their losses has been by more than two goals. With only eight goals for in 10 games, the 'Horns rank ninth offensively in the conference. Guilherme Costa and Conner Brady are tied for the team lead in goals with two apiece.
For the Timberwolves, their second season in the Canada West has been a challenging one. Entering this weekend, the Timberwolves are winless in five games, including back-to-back shutout losses last weekend at home to the UBC Thunderbirds.
With the Timberwolves struggling offensively as well, one could expect a low scoring game on Saturday as the Timberwolves have scored the fewest goals in the conference with five, while surrendering 20 goals against.
Five different players have accounted for the team's five goals.
