Having lost five straight games, including a weekend sweep at home last weekend at the hands of the Manitoba Bisons, the 'Horns have fallen three points behind the Calgary Dinos for the final playoff spot in the conference. The 'Horns are currently seventh in the conference with a 3-7-2 record.
Still one of the lowest scoring teams in the conference, the 'Horns were shut out Saturday night for the second time in their last three games. With 24 goals for in 12 games, only the Calgary Dinos and Mount Royal Cougars have scored fewer goals. Mount Royal has only scored 14 goals in 12 games and have been shut out four times.
Sadie Lenstra continues to lead the 'Horns in scoring with five goals and three assists, while Kirsten Reeves sits one point back with seven points in 11 games.
Crystal Patterson and Shauntelle Williams continue to share time in the 'Horns crease, with Patterson holding slightly better numbers so far. Patterson has a 2.65 goals-against-average and a 0.910 save percentage, while Williams numbers sit at 2.89 and 0.905%.
For the Cougars, marred in their own four game losing streak, their second season in Canada West has been a difficult one. Sitting in eighth with a record of 2-10-0, the Cougars have also gone through a five game losing streak earlier in the season.
Averaging just over one goal per game, the Cougars do not have anyone in the top 30 in conference scoring. Emily Harrison and Reanna Arnold lead the Cougars with three goals and an assist apiece.
Between the pipes for the Cougars, Jess Ross has played in 10 of her teams 12 games and has a 2.97 goals-against-average.
