Box Score

Lethbridge – For the second game in a row, the Lethbridge Pronghorns earned a single point, this time battling the UNBC Timberwolves to a 1-1 draw.

Kim Shellenberg scored in the first half for the Pronghorns, while Sydney Hall responded for the Timberwolves in the second half.
Last time out the 'Horns ended a three game losing streak with a 0-0 tie with the Manitoba Bisons but they are still in search of their first win of the 2013 season.

With the tie the 'Horns move to 0-3-2 on the season and the Timberwolves earn their first point of the season and move to 0-4-1.

First-year Pronghorn striker Meaghan Welby earned the first good chance of the day but after battling through the Timberwolves defenders, her shot just slid wide in the 13th minute.

Continuing their offensive pressure, the 'Horns nearly took the lead from a set piece a short time later but Timberwolves keeper Jordan Hall tipped Emily Felkers's free kick over the wall.

After the Timberwolves left the wall too early on another 'Horns free-kick, Shellenberg took full advantage of the second attempt, curling the ball into the left side of the net to give the 'Horns the game's opening goal.

While the Timberwolves directed six shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes, they never truly tested 'Horns keeper Myriah Marino. Sydney Hall had the Timberwolves best looking chance but her long range shot was easily swallowed up by Marino.

Early into the second half, the 'Horns had a great chance to extend their lead. A corner from Emily Felker was mishandled by Hall but the Pronghorns were unable to corral the loose ball and take advantage.

The Timberwolves drew even in the 62nd minute off a corner kick. Tianna Pius' corner found the head of Sydney Hall, who deflected the ball into the far right bottom corner.

Attempting to rebound from the Timberwolves marker, 'Horns midfielder Steph Groten crossed the ball dangerously into the penalty area but Jordan Hall punched the ball beyond any onrushing 'Horns attackers.

In extra time, Welby looked dangerous again for the 'Horns, breaking free and getting a shot off from the flank but Timberwolves keeper dove to her right to make the save.

Marino finished with 7 saves on the day for the Pronghorns, whereas her counterpart Jordan Hall was the busier of the two goalkeepers and finished the day with 14 saves.

Today was the only game for the Pronghorns this weekend and they will return to action next weekend, traveling to Saskatchewan to face the Saskatchewan Huskies and Regina Cougars. The weekend isn't over yet for the Timberwolves, as they will travel to Calgary to face the Dinos tomorrow afternoon.
