Calgary, AB – The Mount Royal Cougars completed the sweep of Lethbridge this weekend winning 3-2 in overtime tonight at the Flames Community Arenas. TaraLynn Suzuki, Cylenna Alexander and Emily Harrison (OT) scored for the Cougars. Sarah Spence and Megan Bailey scored for the Pronghorns.

The game was a little chippy from the get go, as a number of players made their way to the box in the early-going. Lethbridge opened up the scoring when Sarah Spence converted on the power play to give the Pronghorns a 1-0 lead. Despite outshooting Lethbridge 17-12, the Cougars trailed 1-0 after one period of play.

The second period was a little more balanced. Mount Royal kept their foot on the gas, firing ten more shots on goal. Crystal Patterson stood tall and kicked away all 27 shots that came her way after two periods. Lethbridge stayed out of the box, but didn't manage to build on their lead. Going into the third the Pronghorns led 1-0.

Megan Bailey scored for Lethbridge early to extend their lead to 2-0. Mount Royal fought back and they were rewarded as TaraLynn Suzuki dribbled one across the line to get the Cougars on the board. Seven minutes later the puck hit Cylenna Alexander's skate and went in to tie the game at two.

The deadlock would last until overtime, where the Cougars successfully killed off a penalty and went on the attack. Emily Harrison walked over the line and unleashed a rocket that beat Patterson and won the game for the Cougars. Harrison was mobbed by her teammates celebrating the win.

The Cougars improve to 7-14-3 on the season with the win, while Lethbridge drops to 7-12-5.

Lethbridge will head home next weekend for a pair of games with the Alberta Pandas.

Mount Royal will travel to UBC next weekend for two games against the top-ranked Thunderbirds from UBC.
