Box Score Saskatoon - Fourth-year midfielder Kelly Cerkowniak scored twice to lead the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to a 3-0 win over the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday afternoon on Field 7 in PotashCorp Park.
The win improves Saskatchewan's record to 4-2-3, while Lethbridge drops to 1-6-2 in 2014.
Cerkowniak got things started for the Huskies in the opening minute of the match with a shot to the top of the net. Striker Jenelle Zapski set up the play sending a ball over the back line of the Pronghorn defenders which Cerkwoniak was able to coral and send to the back of the net.
Cerkowniak got her second goal of the match in the 29
th minute with a shot to the far right corner after making a quick move to evade a Lethbridge defender. The goal gave the Huskies a 2-0 halftime lead.
Much like they did in the first half the Huskies continued to dominate possession of the ball again after halftime forcing Lethbridge keeper Myriah Marino to make eight second half saves.
Saskatchewan put 11 shots on goal to Lethbridge's one in the match.
Erica Parenteau scored the lone goal of the second half on a penalty kick within the 18 yard box in the 65
th minute. Zapski was taken down in box to set up the penalty kick.
The two teams will meet again Sunday on Field 7 at noon.
