Lethbridge – For the second time in the month of November, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey team will face the Regina Cougars, but this time it will be on the 'Horns home ice, Nicholas Sheran Arena, as both teams put a cap on the first semester of conference action.

The 'Horns and Cougars will renew acquaintances Friday and Saturday - puck drop is set for 7:00pm.

Only three weeks ago, the Cougars swept the 'Horns during their trip to Regina, beating the 'Horns 4-1 and 2-0.

Entering the final weekend before semester break, the Pronghorns (3-11-0) continue to struggle offensively and were shutout in both losses last weekend to the Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon. Through 14 conference games the 'Horns have only scored 17 goals and have been shut out five times.

The trio of Jenae Culp, Sadie Lenstra and Sarah Spence have done the bulk of the damage offensively for the 'Horns. Culp leads the team in goals with five and is tied with Lenstra for points with eight. Spence has counted two goals and five assists thus far.

Defensively the 'Horns have given up the second most goals in the conference, but senior goaltender Crystal Patterson, who has started all 14 games, has solid numbers with a 2.94 goals-against-average and a 0.916 save percentage.

For the Cougars (9-4-1), winners of four of their last five games, they are in a dog fight in the conference standings. Currently in sixth place with 22 points, the Cougars are only four points out of top spot.
The third lowest scoring team in the conference with 26 goals scored, the Cougars rely on strong defensive play to be successful and have allowed 27 goals against.

Cougar leading scorer Kylie Gavelin sits fourth in the conference in goal scoring with nine and is the lone Cougar with more than six points this season, she has 11.

In the crease, the Cougars have platooned the tandem of Jennifer Schmidt and Toni Ross so far. In seven appearances Schmidt has a 1.67 goals-against-average and 0.942 save percentage with two shutouts, while Ross has compiled a 1.90 goals-against-average and 0.941 save percentage in her eight appearances this season.

The 'Horns will return to action following the semester break, hosting the Manitoba Bisons January 9th and 10th.
