Lethbridge – After starting the conference on the road, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team will open the home portion of the 2014 Canada West schedule hosting the newest Canada West member MacEwan University Griffins for a pair of games.
Kick-off for both Saturday and Sunday's game are scheduled to follow the women's game at 2:15 pm at the University Community Sports Stadium.
For the Pronghorns (0-1-1), after a bye the opening week, the team saw their first conference action of the season last weekend and it produced mixed results.
The 'Horns opened with a disappointing performance last Friday night, losing 4-0 in Winnipeg to the Wesmen. The next night the 'Horns dominated the Wesmen statistically but had to settle for a scoreless draw. During Saturday's game the 'Horns outshot the Wesmen by more than a two-to-one margin.
Newcomer Kendall Wiens led the way for the 'Horns with six shot attempts and fourth-year keeper Tyler Boast started both games for the 'Horns.
In their first season in Canada West, the Griffins (2-2-0) technically have lost all four of the conference games thus far but were awarded two wins during the opening weekend of the season after Mount Royal used an ineligible player. The original scores favored Mount Royal, 4-0 and 4-1.
Last weekend during the Griffins home opener, the Saskatchewan Huskies beat the Griffins by scores of 5-0 and 5-1.
The 'Horns will remain home next weekend, hosting the top team in the Prairie Division, Saskatchewan Huskies.
