Box Score Lethbridge- Lethbridge- In the first of a two-game set, the Lethbridge Pronghorns and Regina Cougars went back and forth for 90 minutes but in the end they had to settle for a scoreless draw.
With the tie, the 'Horns move to 0-3-2 on the season, while the Cougars record now stands at 2-2-1.

Making her first start in the Pronghorns goal, Micaela Stone made nine saves to earn the clean sheet, while her counterpart Kacey McFee turned aside all six shots she faced.

While the opening half finished scoreless both teams has chances to break the deadlock. The 'Horns held a slim 4-3 advantage in shots on goal but Regina had the first quality opportunity. Veronica Boesch was on the end of a cross back door but her shot slid wide.

The 'Horns nearly broke the deadlock in the 26
th minute off a corner kick, but Kim Shellenberg's header just missed the post.

Jaime Nadeau also had a dangerous attempt from long range but Cougar keeper Kacey McFee was able to tip the ball over the bar.

In the final moments of the half, the Cougars had a set piece from 33-yards out but the attempt found the waiting arms of 'Horns keeper Micaela Stone.

The second half saw much of the same with both teams threatening to score the game's elusive first goal, but neither would be able to connect.

Early into the second half, Cougar Celia Michaud found herself all alone in the 'Horns penalty area but her shot sailed over the crossbar.

The 'Horns next quality opportunity came off a set piece but Shellenberg's shot went high over the Cougars crossbar.

15 minutes short of full time the Cougars came dangerously close to breaking the deadlock. A misplayed pass back to the 'Horns keeper created a mad scramble in the 'Horns penalty area but none of the Cougars attackers could corral the loose ball.

With one last ditch effort in injury time, the 'Horns had another free kick deep into the Cougars end; Jaime Nadeau's shot from 30-yards out went directly at McFee, who didn't allow a rebound.

The 'Horns and Cougars will face each other again tomorrow afternoon at the University Community Sports Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00pm.
