Lethbridge – After opening the second half of the season last weekend at home, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey team heads out on the road to face the second place and CIS fifth ranked Alberta Pandas.

Friday and Saturday night's games go at 7:00pm and 6:00pm respectively at Clare Drake Arena. The games will also be webcast on http://canadawest.tv.  This season, University of Alberta and Canada West have partnered in a pilot project to gauge the viability of future subscription-based viewing purchases.

Fans interested in viewing Alberta home games will have the choice between the $1.99 single-game access or the $6.99 full-season subscription.  All other Canada West games will be available for viewing without subscription. Proceeds from the pilot will be reinvested into CanadaWest.TV.

While the 'Horns (4-14-0) have not been officially eliminated from post-season contention the outlook is bleak; with 10 games remaining in the regular season, the 'Horns are 13 points behind the Regina Cougars for that final spot.

In their first action in 2015, the 'Horns were swept by the visiting Manitoba Bisons last weekend, losing 4-1 and 4-0. Saturday night's game marked the sixth time the 'Horns have been shutout this season.

As indicated by the six shutout losses, the 'Horns have struggled offensively this season, only scoring 22 times in 18 games, the second fewest in the conference, but have also allowed the second most goals against in Canada West with 54.

The Pandas (12-6-0) on the other hand, right in middle of a first place battle, are the stingiest team in Canada West, allowing a conference low 25 goals this season. The Pandas have also scored the second most goals in Canada West this season with 52.

Individually, Janae Culp leads the team in goals and points with six goals and nine points, while line mates Sadie Lenstra and Sarah Spence sit second in points with 8 apiece.

For the Pandas, Jessica Kampjes leads the way with 10 goals and six assists, which places her fourth in the conference in scoring. Freshman Hannah Olenyk is second amount rookie scorers in Canada West and has recorded seven goals and nine assists thus far.

In the crease this weekend will be a matchup of the two workhorses in the conference. The 'Horns Crystal Patterson has played all but 20 minutes this season and hold as a 2.96 goals-against-average and a 0.920 save percentage. Patterson also leads the country in saves with 594.

At the other end of the rink,  Lindsey Post will most likely get the starts for the Pandas as she has played  every minute this season. Post sports a sparkling 1.39 goals-against-average and a 0.938 save percentage. She also leads Canada West in shutouts with six.

The 'Horns will face the Calgary Dinos next weekend in a home-and-home series starting Friday night in Calgary, before returning home for the back half of the series Saturday night in Lethbridge.
