Box Score Lethbridge – With two goals in the final six minutes of play, the Mount Royal Cougars earned their second win in two weeks over the Lethbridge Pronghorns with a 3-1 win.

Drake Rendle, Josh Cameron and Justin Anderson-Louch scored for the Cougars, while Chris Rushworth picked up the lone 'Horns marker.

With the win the Cougars improve to 5-2-0 on the season and sit atop the Prairie Division standings, while the loss drops the 'Horns to 1-4-0.

After facing off only two weeks ago in Calgary, both teams spent the much of opening half trading rushes with some nifty footwork and solid passing but neither team would breakdown defensively for the first 35 minutes.

Finally in the 39th minute, the Cougars sustained some pressure for the final minutes of the opening half. Lewis Odosa broke in on right side, finding some open space but his shot from deep in the area curled wide of the far post.

Moments later, the Cougars would hit pay dirt. Cody Cook was fouled as he laid the ball off to Rendle and with the referee allowing the Cougars to play advantage, Rendle picked the low left corner from 22 yards out.

Before the half was out Odosa had another quality chance during injury time but 'Horns keeper Ben Spendlove slid out to make the save.

The Cougars attempted five shots to the 'Horns two in the first 45 minutes, but the 'Horns were not able to hit the net on either of their attempts.

Less than a minute into the second half, the 'Horns caught a break with a Cougar hand ball setting up a penalty taken by Chris Rushworth. While Cougar Kamil Zielinski guessed right he wasn't able to dive to his right quick enough to stop Rushworth's well placed shot.

Riding the momentum of the equalizing goal, Rushworth sprung 'Horns midfielder Dom Point du Jour for a break but Cougar defender Tyrin Hutchings made a spectacular sliding tackle in the box to deflect Point du Jour's shot from harms way.

Point du Jour nearly broke the deadlock in the 65th minute but his rocket from 30 yards hit the post. Jeff Blake came narrowly close for the Cougars a short time later but his shot from inside the 'Horns penalty area sailed wide.

Odosa continued to be an offensive catalyst for the visitors, jumping on an errant Pronghorn pass deep in their end but Spendlove was able to dive to his right and corral the shot.

With six minutes remaining the Cougars got the goal they were looking for, Justin Anderson-Louch collected a long pass and dribbled the ball deep into the box and made a slick pass back into the middle to Josh Cameron who made no mistake.

Striking again quickly, the Cougars extended their lead off a set piece, Cody Cook made a short pass to Anderson-Louch who beat Spendlove from 20 yards out.

The Cougars finished the night with 14 shot attempts and the 'Horns, who were far more dangerous in the second half following a quiet opening 45 minutes, finished with 12 shots and forced Zielinski to make two saves in the second half. Spendlove made three saves in the loss.

The 'Horns will be back in action Sunday afternoon, hosting another southern Alberta rival in the Calgary Dinos. Kick-off is set for 2:15. The Cougars will remain on the road and travel to Saskatoon for a match up with the defending Canada West Champion Saskatchewan Huskies.
