Box Score Saskatoon - A pair of first half goals was all the University of Saskatchewan Huskies would need to topple the visiting University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Saturday in Saskatoon.

Marcello Gonzalez scored in the 10
th minute and Mathew Gillot added an insurance goal in the 34
th.

With the win Saskatchewan improves to 4-3-2 on the season, while Lethbridge drops to 2-5.

Gonzalez's early goal set the tone for the match. Receiving a cross from David Brown, the Saskatchewan striker was able to send a low shot across to the far post that Lethbridge keeper Nolan French had no chance to make a save on.

The Huskies would continue to pressure in the opening thirty minutes of the match with numerous chances. French came up with a key save in the 22
nd minute on a Luigi Bekwayo shot, knocking it off the post to keep it a one-goal game.

In the 34
th minute the Huskies would add their second goal of the half. Garrett Peters was taken down hard in the box by French, which awarded the Huskies a penalty kick. Mathew Gillott stepped to the spot and sent a hard strike to the bottom left corner of the net to make it 2-0.

The Pronghorns got their best chance in the 42
nd minute. A free kick sent into the box was headed just wide by Riley Flint.

Saskatchewan came out strong again the second half with early chances. Tyler Redl had a shot from in close blocked away by a defender and then just missed deflecting in a Bryce Marinus pass in the opening seven minutes.

Lethbridge attempted to attack the Huskie defenders, but with the two-goal lead, the Saskatchewan defense was keen to play conservatively and protect the lead.

Greg Buckley posted the shutout in goal for Saskatchewan with three saves. French was busy in goal for the Pronghorns making eight stops.

The two teams meet again Sunday afternoon at 2:15 p.m. on Field 7 in PotashCorp Park.Â
