Lethbridge – On the road for the final weekend of the season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team is still in the playoff mix but may need some help to earn a berth.
The 'Horns (4-5-1) head to Edmonton to face the MacEwan Griffins and Prairie Division leading Alberta Golden Bears. Kick-offs are scheduled for 2:30pm Saturday and 2:00pm Sunday.
With two games remaining, the 'Horns trail the Saskatchewan Huskies by two points for the fourth and final playoff spot and the Huskies will face the Golden Bears and Griffins as well.
'Horns midfielder Chris Rushworth is tied for second on the conference's goal scoring list with eight goals, but he has played two fewer games than anyone else in the top 10 in goals this season.
For MacEwan (2-8-0) it has been a season to forget and enter the weekend mired in a five game losing streak. MacEwan has scored a division low seven goals this season, while also division high 29 goals against.
Lahai Mansaray and Josh Ongaro lead the Griffins with two goals each.
Sunday's opponent, the Golden Bears (8-2-0) need a single win this weekend to secure top spot in the division but also have their sight set on the conference's number one seed heading into the playoffs. The Bears trail the UBC Thunderbirds for first overall in Canada West.
The Bears lead the conference in scoring this season and have scored 34 times in 10 games this season, seven more than anyone else in the conference. The Bears potent attack has relied on balanced scoring throughout the line up with nine players scoring more than one goal but are led by Mohamd Teliani's eight goals. Tolu Esan and Shamit Shome have each scored six times as well.
During the opening weekend of the season, the Bears beat the 'Horns 6-1 but the 'Horns rebounded that weekend to beat the Griffins 3-0.
