Lethbridge – Heading into the home stretch of the season, the Lethbridge Pronghorns women's soccer team needs to continue to pick up points to remain in a playoff position but it won't be easy as they take on the Prairie Division leading Calgary Dinos in a home-and-home series.
The weekend set kicks off in Calgary on Saturday, before returning to Lethbridge for a Sunday afternoon game. Sunday's contests kicks-off at 12:00 at the University Community Stadium.
After winning two of their first three games, the 'Horns (2-3-3) are winless since but have picked up three crucial points in ties. Last weekend the 'Horns battled the UNBC Timberwolves to a 1-1 draw before losing the Alberta Pandas, 3-0.
Entering this weekend's action, the 'Horns sit fifth, four points up on Regina and five points up on Mount Royal and Winnipeg. Six teams in the Prairie Division qualify for playoffs.
Statistically, the 'Horns are still one of the lowest scoring teams in the division with six goals in eight games. Transfer Nikki Furukawa leads the 'Horns with three goals, including a last minute goal last Friday to earn a single point in Prince George.
In the crease, Micaela Stone has played all six games this season and sits second in saves in Canada West with 65.
The division leading Dinos (5-2-1) were clipping along the conference schedule until last weekend where they lost 2-0 to the Alberta Pandas and battled the UNBC Timberwolves to a scoreless draw.
With only nine goals against in eight games, the Dinos are the stingiest team in the Prairie Division, but have also shown the ability to put the ball in the back of the net with 15 goals for.
Mollee Ramsay leads the Dinos with five goals and sits second on the conference scoring list. Maddison Fritzke is second on the team with three goals.
The 'Horns play their final home games next weekend, hosting the Victoria Vikes and UBC Thunderbirds.
