The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women's soccer team earned a gritty point on Friday evening, holding the University of Alberta Pandas to a 0–0 draw at Community Stadium.

Despite being outshot over the course of 90 minutes, the Pronghorns showed defensive resilience and composure to secure their second clean sheet of the season.
The Pandas controlled much of the possession and created several dangerous chances early in the match. Their first opportunity came in the ninth minute, when Makenna Van der Veen struck the crossbar from distance, narrowly missing an opener. Alberta continued to apply pressure, forcing Lethbridge goalkeeper Kate Prince into action on multiple occasions. Prince answered the challenge, making key stops to deny Van der Veen and forward Hannah Lamoureux before halftime.

The Pronghorns, meanwhile, looked to generate opportunities on the counterattack. Their best chance of the opening half came in the 44th minute when forward Jessica Jorgenson tested Alberta keeper Autumn Wynn with a low shot from outside the box. Wynn handled the attempt cleanly to keep the match scoreless.

After the break, the flow of play remained tilted in Alberta's favor, as the Pandas recorded 13 second-half shots. Prince stood tall again, finishing with 10 saves overall, including a diving stop in the 72nd minute to preserve the clean sheet.

She was supported by a disciplined back line, with defenders Grace Klassen and Lisa Popp turning in standout performances. Klassen's ability to intercept passes and Popp's composure under pressure were instrumental in limiting Alberta to shots from difficult angles.

The Pandas pressed relentlessly as time wound down, earning five corners in the match compared to Lethbridge's lone opportunity. Van der Veen remained a consistent threat with a match-high eight shots, while defender Alia Temple also tested Prince with two on-target efforts. In the final minutes, Alberta nearly broke through when a scramble in the box left the ball loose in front of goal, but Klassen cleared the danger to preserve the draw.

Statistically, Alberta finished with 22 total shots, including 10 on target, while the Pronghorns recorded three attempts, one of which tested Wynn directly. Lethbridge committed 12 fouls to Alberta's five in a physical contest that demanded concentration from both sides. With the result, both teams move to 0-0-1 on the season.

The Pronghorns return to action on Sunday August 31, where they will get a rematch against the Panadas at Community Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Catch the action live or on Canada West TV.
