Lethbridge – Following a conference-wide bye week, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey team (5-3-2-0) return to action this weekend looking to rebound after being swept in their last action, as they host the Manitoba Bisons (5-5-0-0) for a pair of games.

Puck drops Friday night at 7:00pm and Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm. Both games will be webcast on www.canadawest.tv.

For the 'Horns, who are ranked sixth in the country, the break could not have come at a better time. The 'Horns took the conference by storm to start the season, winning seven of their first eight games, but then were swept by the Mount Royal Cougars  in a home-and-home series to end the first month of the conference schedule.

After starting Alicia Anderson in net for nine straight games, the 'Horns went with Jessica Lohues in the second game versus the Mount Royal Cougars two weeks ago. Lohues made her first CIS start after only seeing 20 minutes of action last season as a freshmen and stopped 36 of 38 shots in the loss to the Cougars.

Offensively, the 'Horns are still led by Lauren Fredrich, but as a team they were shutout both games versus the Cougars. Fredrich is tied for sixth in Canada West scoring with four goals and four assists, while Jocelyn Sabourin sits second on the team and is also second in scoring among blue liners in the conference with seven points.

Whereas the break came at the right time for the 'Horns, it came at the worst time for the Bisons as they enter this weekend riding a three game winning streak and now sit only four  points behind the Pronghorns for second in the conference.

One of the top teams defensively, the Bisons have allowed the second fewest goals in Canada West with 17 in 10 games and have received solid goaltending from both of their tenders. Rachel Dyck has made seven appearances in the Bisons' crease and holds a 1.74 goals-against average and 0.918 save percentage. Amanda Schubert has made three starts, accumulating a 1.68 goals-against average and a 0.938 save percentage.

Alanna Sharman and Alana Serhan lead the Bisons offensively with eight and seven points respectively.

Saturday's game also marks the 'Horns annual Cancer Awareness game with this season's 'Pink in the Rink' campaign, donating proceeds to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.
