Lethbridge – Sitting at the bottom of the Canada West standings, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey teams looks to finish on a positive note with only two weekends remaining in the season and host the Saskatchewan Huskies for a pair of games.
Puck drops at Nicolas Sheran Arena both Friday and Saturday night at 7:00pm.
Entering their final four games of the season, the 'Horns (4-20-0) have lost eight games in a row and have only scored five goals during the slide. On the season, the 'Horns have only scored 26 times in 24 games, while surrendering 82 goals against.
The Huskies (12-9-3) however, are still battling for playoff positioning and most likely will have to go out on the road for the first round of Canada West playoffs. The Huskies trail the Calgary Dinos by eight points, but with three points on the line for a regulation win this season in Canada West, they still have a chance to leap frog the Dinos for fourth and a home playoff date.
Similar to their middle of the pack fifth placing in the standings, the Huskies sit tied for fourth in goals against with 58 and sixth in goals for with 48.
Earlier this season, the Huskies shutout the 'Horns both games in Saskatoon, beating the 'Horns 3-0 and 2-0.
Players to watch: With a goal last Saturday night, forward Sadie Lenstra took over the scoring lead from Jenae Culp. Lenstra now has 11 points on the season, while Culp has 10. The linemates are tied for the team's goal scoring lead with six each.
The third member of that line Sarah Spence is third on the team in scoring with eight points.
As senior goaltender Crystal Patterson wind downs her University career, she will finish as the Canada West leader in minutes played. Entering this weekend she has been in the 'Horns crease for over 6,600 minutes. So far this season she has a 3.39 goals-against-average and a 0.906 save percentage.
For the Huskies, Kaitlin Willoughby leads the team in scoring with 20 points and is tied for the team lead in goals with Kandace Cook with nine.
Between the pipes for Saskatchewan, Cassidy Hendricks has been their go to puck stopper, playing all but 84 minutes this season and holds a 2.16 goals-against-average and a 0.924 save percentage.
The 'Horns will put a wrap on the 2014-15 Canada West season next weekend in a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal Cougars, beginning Friday night in Calgary.
