Lethbridge – After completing their first road trip of the season last weekend, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's soccer team hits the pavement again this weekend, traveling to Prince George and Edmonton to face the UNBC Timberwolves and Alberta Pandas.
The 'Horns face the Timberwolves Friday night (7PM PST), before facing the Pandas Sunday at noon.
Through three weekends of the Canada West season, the 'Horns (2-2-2) and sit fourth in the East Division standings, but only four points separate fourth and last place. The top six teams in each division qualify for playoffs.
Still struggling to find their offensive touch, scoring only five goals in the first six games, but the team under interim head coach Fred Trinh has been solid, allowing the second fewest goals in the division with eight.
Nikki Furukawa continues to lead the 'Horns with two goals on the season and has also registered a team high 13 shots.
Friday's opponents, UNBC Timberwolves (0-5-1) are still in search of their first win of the season and enter the weekend riding a five-game losing streak. Last weekend at home, the Timberwolves lost 3-0 to the Trinity Western Spartans and 6-1 to the Fraser Valley Cascades.
The Timberwolves also enter this weekend's games allowing a conference high 20 goals against while scoring a conference low two goals for.
Sunday, the 'Horns face perennial conference challenger Alberta Pandas (1-4-1), but the 2015 season has not been friendly for the Pandas thus far.
A season ago the Pandas finished a top the East Division standing with a 7-1-4 record but were beaten 1-0 in the Canada West semi-final.
The Pandas enter the weekend on a four-game losing streak and after scoring 20 goals in 12 games last season, they have only managed five goals in six games this season.
