Lethbridge – Led by a strong defensive effort, the Lethbridge Pronghorns upset the CIS fourth ranked and previously undefeated Calgary Dinos, 3-1.
Nikki Furukawa scored twice, while Aislinn Willistion scored her first career goal to open the scoring. Amy Hockings replied for the Dinos.
Playing in her first game of her CIS career, Rachel Lee made four saves to earn her first career win.
The win improves the 'Horns record to 3-6-0 and keeps the 'Horns in the playoff hunt, while the Dinos 7-1-1.
Off the opening kick, the conference's top offensive team, the Calgary Dinos had a glorious chance in the opening minute. Leading goal scorer Mollee Ramsey collected a cross at the back post and had two cracks at it, but 'Horns keeper Rachel Lee made two great stops.
The 'Horns defence seemed to settle in after that, keeping the lethal Dinos attack at bay. Coming into today's match the Dinos have scored a conference high 37 goals, 13 more than anyone else in Canada West.
After holding the Dinos attack off, Aislinn Williston opened the scoring for the Pronghorns. Nanami Wakayama laid the ball off to Williston in the Dino penalty area and made no mistake, beating Sophia Traxler to the far side.
Shots attempts at the half favored the Dinos 10-5 but both teams registered four shots on goal.
The Dinos put the 'Horns on their heels early in the second half but 'Horns defence continue to stifle the Dinos attack, blocking shots and clearing the ball from harm's way.

th minute, the 'Horns doubled their lead with team's leading goal scorer Nikki Furukawa beating a defender 30 yards out and racing in on a partial breakaway and sliding the ball into the low right corner for her fifth of the season.
The second goal took the wind out of the Dinos sails and Furukawa struck again quickly with a beautifully placed ball from the left side to put the 'Horns up 3-0 with just less than nine minutes to play.
The Dinos would break the shutout in the 85th minute, Amy Hockings collected a loose ball off a corner kick and poked it into the open corner, but that would be as close as the Dinos would get.
The back half of the home-and-home series goes tomorrow afternoon in Calgary, kick-off is scheduled for 12:00.
