Box Score
Edmonton – Looking to snap a four game losing streak, the Lethbridge Pronghorns couldn't break through a tough Alberta Pandas defence and were shutout 5-0 in the first game of a two game set in the provincial capital.

The loss drops the 'Horns record to 2-8-1-2, while the Pandas have now won four straight games, and improve to 4-3-3-3 this season.

Amy Boucher and Alex Poznikoff each scored twice to lead the Pandas and Kennedy Ganser also scored for Alberta, while fifth-year keeper Lindsey Post stopped 17 shots to earn her second-straight shutout. Alicia Anderson made 35 saves on 40 shots in the loss.

It didn't take long for Alberta to take control of Friday night's tilt, as Boucher opened the scoring just five minutes into the first. Ashley Morin set up Boucher with a great feed in front, before the Edmonton native beat Anderson with a great backhand-forehand deke.

The Pandas were in control throughout, busting opened the scoring in the second with three unanswered goals. Ganser opened the flurry three minutes in, beating Anderson from the slot with a one-timer following a great forced turnover by Hannah Olenyk. Poznikoff got her first of the night 11 minutes later, beating Anderson off a rebound in the Lethbridge slot. Boucher capped off the great middle frame, beating the Pronghorns goalie short-side on the power play.

Neither team pressed much in the third period with the score being out of reach. Anderson made a pair of highlight real saves, in a solo attempt to keep her team in the game. Poznikoff, however, sealed the Alberta win with a shorthanded breakaway goal in the third.

These two squads will resume their series tomorrow with a 2:00 p.m. puck drop scheduled for Clare Drake Arena.
