Lethbridge – Coming off a season opening weekend split, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's soccer team (1-1-0) hits the road to face a pair of provincial rivals, as the 'Horns take on the MacEwan Griffins and the Mount Royal Cougars.

Kick-off with the Griffins is scheduled for 12:00pm Saturday in Edmonton, this game will also be webcast on www.canadawest.tv. The road trip concludes in Calgary Sunday with kick-off for the Cougars game scheduled for 11:00am.

Following a tough 2-1 loss to the UBC-O Heat last Saturday, the 'Horns rebounded with a solid 2-0 win over the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.

Fourth-year midfielder Nikki Furukawa scored all three of the Pronghorn goals last weekend for the 'Horns and was named the Canada West Female third star of the week for her performance.

Saturday's opponent, MacEwan Griffins (0-1-1) went winless during the opening weekend of the Canada West season, losing 2-0 to the Victoria Vikes in Victoria before battling the UBC Thunderbirds to a hard fought 0-0 tie in Vancouver.

Last season, the 'Horns and Griffins split their season series with both programs winning 2-0 on their home field.

The Cougars, who finished one spot ahead of the Pronghorns last season opened the season with two straight losses on the West Coast, dropping a 5-0 decision to the Thunderbirds and a close 2-1 contest to Vikes.

Carly Neis scored the lone goal for the Cougars, while goalkeeper Cailyn Lesson made 22 saves, which leads the Canada West after one weekend.

The Cougars swept the season series with the 'Horns last year, winning 4-1 in Lethbridge and 1-0 on their home field.

The 'Horns will return home next weekend to host the Manitoba Bisons and Winnipeg Wesmen.
