Lethbridge – Following a tough road trip last weekend, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's soccer team (1-3-0) returns home to host a pair of opponents from Winnipeg.
The 'Horns open the weekend set Saturday versus the Manitoba Bisons before hosting the Winnipeg Wesmen Sunday. Both games kick-off at noon at the University Community Stadium.
A week ago, the 'Horns suffered two one-goal losses on the road, losing 2-1 versus the MacEwan Griffins before being shutout 1-0 Sunday at Mount Royal.
Through four games this season, the 'Horns have scored four goals, while allowing only five. Nikki Furukawa leads the 'Horns attack, scoring three of the four 'Horns goals. Kayla Blacquiere scored her first goal of the season last Saturday.
The Bisons and Wesmen both sit one point ahead of the 'Horns with identical 1-2-1 records.
In their last action, the Bisons were shutout by the Saskatchewan Huskies and settled for a scoreless draw with the Regina Cougars.
The Bisons have scored five goals in four games but all five of those goals came in one game beating the UNBC Timberwolves 5-0 two weeks ago. Selina Speranza leads the way with three goals.
Sunday's opponent Winnipeg Wesmen enter the weekend on a two-game losing streak after being beaten last weekend 1-0 by the Regina Cougars and 4-2 by the Huskies.
Jamila Calvez and Maeghan Lindsay lead the way offensively with two goals apiece.
The 'Horns will head out on the road next weekend, travelling to Regina and Saskatoon to face the Cougars and Huskies.
