Lethbridge – After starting the 2016 Canada West with two consecutive road trips, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team will finally play at home this week, hosting the Alberta Golden Bears and the MacEwan Griffins.
Game one versus the Golden Bears will kick-off Friday afternoon at 2:00pm, while the second game of the weekend will see the 'Horns take on the Griffins Sunday at 2:15pm.
The 'Horns (1-2-1) will be looking to rebound from a tough trip to Calgary last week, that saw the 'Horns drop a 6-1 decision to the Mount Royal Cougars and 4-1 to the U of C Dinos.
Stephen Primeau and Kendell Wiens lead the 'Horns in scoring through four games with two goals apiece.
The Golden Bears are off to a perfect start to the 2016 season, winning all four games thus far and handled the Winnipeg Wesmen in convincing fashion last weekend, beating the Wesmen 4-2 and 4-0.
In this week's CIS top 10 rankings, the Bears moved up to fourth in the rankings from eighth.
Bear's Ajeej Sarkaria is off to a hot start this season, scoring five times in four games and is tied for the conference lead in goals. His five goals accounts for exactly half of his teams goals this season.
Sunday's opponent, MacEwan Griffins, are coming off their bye week but opened the season with two losses two weeks ago. The Griffins were beat 2-1 by Mount Royal Cougars and 4-0 by the Calgary Dinos.
Samuel Foster scored the only goal for the Giffins through two games.
Last season, the 'Horns beat the Griffins 3-0 at home and settled for a 4-4 tie in Edmonton.
The 'Horns will head back out on the road next weekend, traveling to face Thompson Rivers and UBC-O.
