With two wins this weekend, the Pronghorns (4-5-1) would officially clinch a playoff berth for the second time in the last three seasons.
In their last action the Pronghorns earned a weekend split with the Calgary Dinos in a home-and-home series. With the Pronghorns 2-1 win last Sunday at home, they moved eight points ahead of the seventh place Regina Cougars.
The Pronghorns remain with an even goal differential, scoring 12 goals for and allowing 12 goals against through 10 games.
Offensively, the trio of Lindsay Amatto, Nikki Furukawa and Kayla Blacquiere continue to provide the majority of the team's offence this season. Amatto leads the team with five goals, while Furukawa has three goals and Blacquiere has chipped in with two goals and two assists this season.
Saturday's opponent, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack (2-7-1) are tied for the fewest goals scored this season with only 5 goals in 10 games. The WolfPack have been shutout six times this season but had a four point weekend last week, tying and beating the UBCO Heat.
The WolfPack have allowed a conference high 32 goals against so far this season.
Individually, Camryn Curtis and Marisa Mendonca have accounted for four of their team's goals scored this season with both scoring twice.
On Sunday, the Pronghorns take on the winless UBCO Heat (0-7-3), who is tied with the WolfPack for the fewest goals scored in Canada West with five. The Heat have also allowed 22 goals against through 10 games but have earned two ties in their last three games, including a 1-1 versus the WolfPack last week.
Like the WolfPack, the Heat have been shutout six times in 10 games and Susan Traynor is the only Heat player to score more than once this season, leading the Heat with two goals.
The Pronghorns will return home next weekend to host the Alberta Pandas and Mount Royal Cougars in the final home games of the 2017 Canada West regular season.
