CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos outshot the Lethbridge Pronghorns 14-7, and it was the goal by Kayla Kreutzer in the 44th minute that made the difference, lifting Calgary to a 1-0 win at West Varsity Pitch on Saturday afternoon.

The Dinos (4-2-3) had the momentum early, outshooting the Pronghorns 6-3, and holding the edge on corner kicks as well. But the Lethbridge defense held their ground and kept the game scoreless throughout the majority of the half.

Calgary took the lead in the 44th minute, as Kayla Kreutzer notched her first goal of the season. It was set up by second-year Sienna Prince-McPherson, who snuck by the defenders and delivered a perfect pass, after which the ball swiftly found the net.

"We played a great game today other than an unfortunate bounce," said head coach Fred Trinh. "As a team that was a great effort and we hope that we can bring that same effort to the game tomorrow."

The Dinos maintained the lead for the remainder of the match, as Lauren Houghton made several impressive saves, allowing Calgary to sustain the advantage. With only minutes remaining, Lethbridge looked prime to score when Kayla Blacquiere made an attempt on net, but Houghton jumped to capture the ball, grasping it firmly.

Houghton recorded four saves in goal for the Dinos, while Micaela Stone stopped seven shots on goal for Lethbridge.

When asked if the Dinos are ready to take on Lethbridge for the second time tomorrow, Calgary Head Coach Troye Flannery laughed, stating, "no, but we have to be. Lethbridge is a tough place to play, so we will have to make some adjustments, try some different things, and be prepared. They're a tough rival, I don't enjoy playing them, but it's part of the gig."

The Pronghorns and Dinos are back at it tomorrow afternoon in the back half of a home-and-home series, this time in Lethbridge. Kick-off is slated for 12:00pm at the University Community Stadium.
