EDMONTON – In a bend but not break defensive effort, the Lethbridge Pronghorns with stood the offensive pressure to earn a much important road points with a 0-0 draw with the Alberta Pandas..

Micaela Stone turned in arguably the best match of her Pronghorn career, turning aside all 10 shots to earn her first clean sheet of the season. Pandas keeper Cassie Bazzarelli - while not as busy as Stone - stopped all six shots she faced to earn her second-straight shutout for Alberta.

"We played well today to earn a massive point against a well coached team," said head coach Fred Trinh. "Everyone was on the same page and worked extremely hard for a 0-0 draw."

Coming off a hard-fought 1-0 win the previous night, the Pandas offence came unleashed in Sunday's tilt, with the home side generating chance after chance from the opening minutes on. Sydney Daines paced the attack with five shots (four on target), while Karissa McNutt and Aly Parth each had four shots of their own.

The Pandas offence in the first half was made up mostly of well-executed crosses into the 'Horns box, however every cross was either blocked, turned over, or stopped by Stone.

Despite being outplayed, the Pronghorns generated a couple scoring opportunities of their own in the first, highlighted by a Kayla Blacquiere chance in the 22nd minute. However, her shot from five yards out couldn't beat Bazzarelli, who made an incredible arm save from the crease.

The score remained tied deep into the second half, despite nine first half, and 10 second-half shots by Alberta. Fourth-year forward Karissa McNutt had one of the best chances for either team in the 58th minute, but her shot from in tight sailed harmlessly over the Lethbridge net.

Neither team was able to vanquish the scoreless match late in the fourth, resulting in the 0-0 scoreline.

The Pronghorns, now 0-1-1, will head home for to prepare for their home opener next weekend versus the UFV and Trinity Western University.
