This past weekend, the Pronghorns (1-2-1) got back on track after opening the season with two losses. Saturday, the Pronghorns battled back to tie the defending USPORTS Champion Alberta Golden Bears 1-1 and picked up their first win of the season Sunday afternoon, downing the MacEwan Griffins 2-1.
Through the four games, the Pronghorns have had four different goal scorers with first-year Pronghorns Ellis Davies and Tyrell Thring registering their first career goals, while Kyle Angerilli and Dom Point du Jour scoring the other goals.
Nolan French returned to the crease this past weekend and stopped 17 of the 19 shots he faced.
Both the Calgary Dinos and Mount Royal Cougars are coming off their bye week.
For the Dinos, the opening weekend was an up and down affair, after opening the season with a 2-1 win over the MacEwan Griffins on their home field, the Dinos fell 5-0 to the Golden Bears.
A season ago, the Dinos and Pronghorn split their season series with both teams winning on their home field.
The Cougars opened the season with two straight loss at home, losing 1-0 to the Bears and then squandering a 2-0 lead late against the Griffins. The Griffins scored three goals in the final 10 minutes of action to clip the Cougars 3-2.
Last season, the Cougars took four points from the Pronghorns, beating the 'Horns 4-1 in Calgary and then played to a scoreless draw in Lethbridge.
Next weekend, the Pronghorns head back out on the road, traveling to face the Trinity Western Spartans and Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
