Box Score SASKATOON - The University of Saskatchewan Huskies opened the second half of the Canada West women's hockey season with a 2-0 shutout over the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns Friday night in Rutherford Rink.

Saskatchewan used a first period and a third period goal, as well as an 18 save shutout by Jessica Vance, her fourth of the season.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 10-6-1. Lethbridge drops to 5-10-1.

Kayla Kirwan put the Huskies on the board with a power play goal late in the first period. The defenceman capitalized by shooting a rebound by Alicia Anderson at 19:51 to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Saskatchewan added their second goal after a Lethbridge turnover in the neutral zone. Chloe Smith received a pass from Shyan Elias and sniped the puck into by Anderson glove side at 7:45 in the third.

Lethbridge's best chances in the game came on a turnover at the blue line of the Huskies zone and on a power play with under four minutes left in the game. In both chances, Vance was able to make the saves to keep the shutout alive.

Anderson made 29 saves in the loss for the 'Horns.

The two teams meet again Saturday night in Rutherford Rink. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
