Pronghorns attempt to secure playoff berth on the road

LETHBRIDGE – Entering the final weekend of the Canada West season, the University of Lethbridge Pronghorn women's soccer team is fighting for one of the final playoff postitions and heads out on the road for the final two games.
 
The Pronghorns face the Prairie Division second place Alberta Pandas Saturday at 12 p.m. and the Mount Royal Cougars Sunday at 11 a.m.
 
The Pronghorns (2-9-1) are tied with the Regina Cougars for the final playoff spot in the Prairie Division, but will have to win the spot out right as the Cougars hold the tie breaker after beating the Pronghorns 1-0 earlier this season.
 
The Cougars, who have lost five straight games, are in Winnipeg to face the Winnipeg Wesman and Manitoba Bisons.
 
Playing in her final regular season games as a Pronghorn this weekend, Lindsay Amatto is tied with Raeleen Vanden Dungen for the team lead in goals with two.
 
Erica Augsten, Clair Joyce and Aislinn Williston are also playing in their final regular season games as a Pronghorn this weekend.
 
The Pandas (8-1-3) sit six points back of the Calgary Dinos for first in the division but are secured to host a playoff game as the Manitoba Bison cannot catch the Pandas for second place.
 
The top scoring team in the Prairie Division, the Pandas are led by Sydney Daines and Ann Dunn who have each scored five goals this season. Morgan Corbett and Brenna Mattiello sit one goal back with four goals apiece.
 
Earlier this season, the Pandas beat the Pronghorns 3-0.
 
Mount Royal (5-5-2) has clinched a playoff spot but with wins this weekend have the potential to catch the Manitoba Bisons for third in the Prairie Division.
 
Offensively, the Cougars are led by Janai Martens who has scored five goals in 11 games this season. Robyn MacDonald sits second with three tallies in seven games.
 
In Lethbridge earlier this season, Mount Royal beat the Pronghorns 1-0.
