LETHBRIDGE – Coming off their first win of the season the Pronghorn women's soccer team has a quick turn around and will host the front half of the home-and-home series with the Calgary Dinos.
The Pronghorns and Dinos will hit the turf at the University Community Stadium Thursday night at 5:00 PM. The back half of the home-and-home series is slated for Friday at 4:30 PM at McMahon Stadium in Calgary. Both games will be streamed live on
www.canadawest.tv.
With the win on Sunday, the Pronghorns (1-6-1) moved into a tie with two other teams for the final playoff spot in the Prairie Division. The Pronghorns are currently tied with the Saskatchewan Huskies and Winnipeg Wesmen and are only three points back of the Regina Cougars.
Through eight games this season, the Pronghorns have only scored four times but scored twice in the team's 2-1 win over the Huskies and have only surrendered three goals in their last three games.
Lindsay Amatto leads the Pronghorns with two goals, while
Raeleen Vanden Dungen and freshman
Hailey Waterhouse have scored the other two goals this season.
The Dinos (7-1-0) present a stiff test for the Pronghorns, entering the home-and-home series riding a seven game winning streak. In their last action, the Dinos beat the Saskatchewan Huskies 4-0 and Regina Cougars 3-0.
In eight games this season, the Dinos have only allowed three goals against. Lauren Houghton has started in goal for all eight games this season and leads Canada West with six shutouts and is tied for the conference lead with seven wins.
Offensively, the Dinos have a balanced attack with 10 players hitting the scoresheet with at least one goal this season. Maddison Fritze leads the Dinos with three goals.
