After getting a taste of the post-season two years ago, the Pronghorn men's soccer team is excited for the upcoming Canada West season. The squad has added 12 new players to the program this season, which will add to a strong base that is in place. Fifth-year returnees Blake Pipke (Defence) Sean Gaiesky (midfield) and Stephen Primeau (midfield) will be counted on to lead a youthful side.

"We have added a tremendous amount of skill to the program, these players have come in well prepared and they will make this year's team the deepest we have had in recent memory," said head coach Randy Bardock. "The competition for playing time is going to make us much strong this year and in the years to come."

Offensively, the Pronghorns who finished near the bottom in the conference in goals scored last year and have a hole to fill with the graduation of Dom Point du Jour, who led the team with four goals and nine points last season.

Primeau finished second on the team last year in goal scoring with three goals and along with Ellis Davies, who scored twice as a freshman will be counted on the lead the team offensively.
On the defensive side of the ball, an experienced back line led by Pipke, Thomas Hammerton and Jitse Van den hadelkamp and the return of goalkeepers Nolan French and Matthew Vandervoort should see a reduction in goals against this season.

Both Mount Royal and Calgary made the playoffs last season with the Dinos finishing third in the Prairie Division with a 7-6-1 record, while the Cougars were fourth at 4-4-6.
Head-to-head last season, the Pronghorns tied and lost the Cougars and lost both games to the Dinos.
