LETHBRIDGE – Following the first of two bye weekends of the season, the Lethbridge Pronghorn men's soccer team returns to action this weekend at home, hosting a pair of Pacific Division teams in the UBC Okanagan Heat and Trinity Western Spartans.

The Pronghorns will face the Heat Saturday and the Spartans on Sunday, both kick-offs are slated for 2:15 at the University Community Stadium. Both games will also be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv.

"We are excited to get back at it, the break came at a positive time for us as it gave our 12 first years a mental break and allowed us to get some players back who have been unable to play due to injury," said  Pronghorn head coach Randy Bardock.

"We have had a great 10 days of training, now it is a chance to build on our previous weekend games, being sharper individually and collectively as a team."

Through four games the Pronghorns (0-4-0) have had a rocky start, dropping all four games including their last two in heartbreaking fashion. In their last action two weeks ago, the Pronghorns gave up the winning goal in the final minutes of both games in a pair of 2-1 losses to MacEwan and the Prairie Division leading Alberta Golden Bears.

Sean Gaiesky and Thomas Hammerton have each scored a goal this season to lead the Pronghorns.

Saturday's opponent, the UBCO Heat (1-3-2) enter the weekend on a two game losing streak, dropping both games last weekend on the coast. The Heat lost 4-3 in Victoria on Friday before losing 3-1 at UBC.

Through six games, the Heat have scored six goals for, while surrendering 12 goals against. Luke Warkentin has accounted for half of the Heat's offensive output scoring three times, which ties him for third on the conference goal scoring list.

A perennial top Pacific team, the Trinity Western Spartans (2-1-2) have had an inconsistent start to the 2018 season. The Spartans opened the season with a 1-1 tie with the UBCO Heat and then beat the Victoria Vikes convincingly 7-1. Following the win over the Vikes, the Spartans were shutout 3-0 by the UBC T-Birds. Last weekend, the Spartans tied and beat the UNBC Timberwolves.

Cody Fransen and Domenic Poletto lead the Spartans offensively with three goals each.

The Pronghorns will head out on the for the next two weeks and with a bye to follow, the Pronghorns will not play on their home field again until October 13th.
