A Look at Teams
Through the first two weekends of conference action, the
Pronghorns (0-4-0) Achilles heal has been their inability to put the ball in the back of the net, but all four opponents were playoff teams last season.. The Pronghorns have been shutout all four games thus far, but put together some solid defensive soccer this past weekend.
Facing the 6
th ranked Thunderbirds, the Pronghorns held the T-Birds scoreless through the first half but an early own goal in the second turned the tide in a 4-0 loss. On Sunday, the Pronghorns held the Vikes, who are just outside the U SPORTS top 10 to only one goal.
The
Manitoba Bisons (1-1-2) will play at home for the second consecutive week and are coming off a 1-0 loss to the Trinity Western Spartans and 2-2 tie with the Fraser Valley Cascades.
Statistically, the Bisons are dead even in the goals for and against department with five of each.
Last season, the Bisons beat the Pronghorns 3-0 in Lethbridge.
Like the Pronghorns, the
Winnipeg Wesmen (0-2-2) are looking for their first win of the season but have earned points with a pair of ties. Last weekend at home the Wesmen tied Fraser Valley 2-2 before dropping a 3-0 decision to the Trinity Western Spartans.
In four games this season, the Wesmen have registered five goals for, while allowing nine goals against.
A season ago, the Pronghorns beat the Wesmen 1-0 in Lethbridge.
Up Next
The Pronghorns will return home for two games next weekend, hosting the Regina Cougars and Saskatchewan Huskies at the University Community Stadium.
