Pronghorns hit the road in need of points

LETHBRIDGE – Just past the midway mark of the Canada West season, the Lethbridge Pronghorns head to Edmonton for a pair of games and are in need of points if they are to make a return to the Canada West playoffs.

Saturday the Pronghorns take on the Prairie Division leading Alberta Golden Bears Saturday at 2:15 and the MacEwan Griffins Sunday at 2:30. Both games will be streamed live on www.canadawest.tv.

Still in search of their first win of the season, the Pronghorn (0-7-1) are three wins out of the final playoff spot with six games to play but in those six games, they play all three teams in the division that are sitting with three wins.

Last weekend the Pronghorns lost a close 1-0 game in Prince George versus the UNBC Timberwolves before dropping a 5-0 decision in Victoria to the Vikes.

In eight games, the Pronghorns have only scored three goals and will need to generate some offence if they are going to make a climb up the standings.

Saturday the Pronghorns take on the undefeated Alberta Golden Bears (7-0-2). Earlier this season, the Bears scored two goals in the final seven minutes to clip the Pronghorns 2-1.

The Bears are led by Ajeej Sarkaria and Easton Ongaro, who have each scored five goals this season.

In their final road game of the season on Sunday, the Pronghorns face the Griffins (3-5-1). The Griffins enter the weekend on a three game losing streak.

In Lethbridge earlier this season, the Griffins scored in stoppage tie to upend the Pronghorns 2-1.

Offensively, Everett Orgnero leads the way for the Griffins, counting for five of his team's 11 goals this season.
