LETHBRIDGE – Pronghorn Athletics is pleased to announce that veteran coaches Parry Shockey and Doug MacLeod will lead the Pronghorns women's hockey team through the conclusion of the 2018-19 season.

Shockey has been named the interim head coach and MacLeod will assist with practices through the final weeks of the season. Current assistant coaches will remain part of the program through the end of the season.

Both Shockey and MacLeod are familiar with the Pronghorns hockey programs and have been involved in southern Alberta hockey for decades, bringing a wealth of experience to the program.

Shockey was an assistant coach with the Pronghorns men's hockey team under Mike Babcock when the Horns captured the 1994 CIAU title. He then went on to coach at the Western Hockey League level with the Spokane Chiefs, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Regina Pats and Moose Jaw Warriors. He has most recently been working as scout for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League.

MacLeod served as the head coach of the women's program for seven seasons from 2001 to 2008 and was also an assistant coach with the men's program in the early 1990s, working with Shockey and Babcock on the championship team. MacLeod is currently serving as a Regional Scout for Hockey Canada.
