LETHBRIDGE – Sitting at the top of the Canada West standings and making an appearance in the U SPORTS Top 10 ranking, the Lethbridge Pronghorn women's hockey team has also taken a look towards the future, securing the program's first signing for the 2020-21 season.
 
First-year head coach Doug Paisley and the women's hockey program is thrilled to announce the signing of forward Mallory Dyer.

"I met Mallory this past summer at the STIX Collegiate Showcase Tournament in Calgary and her size and speed caught my attention right away," said Paisley. "Mallory is a character player that competes very hard and plays a fast, aggressive 200 foot game that will fit into our team's style of play really well."

"We are absolutely thrilled that Mallory has chosen our program. She is the first member of the team's recruiting class of 2020 and we are excited and looking forward to Mallory joining the Pronghorn family next September."
 
Dyer, a 5-foot-9 Calgary product, will join the program next fall from the Female Prep system, skating with the Edge Mountaineers for her senior season.
 
The younger sister of current Pronghorn Meg Dyer, is off to a great start to her senior season with two goals and four assists in five games this season.
 
Dyer spent the previous two seasons playing AAA Midget in the Alberta Female Hockey league with the Calgary Fire and Rocky Mountain Raiders, earning back-to-back provincial silver medals. She was also invited to the U18 Team Alberta Top 27 camp in 2018.
 
Last season with the Fire, she accumulated five goals and nine assists in 33 games, while in the previous season as a 15 year old, she picked up two goals and six assists with the Raiders.
 
In addition to being a good athlete, Dyer has also excelled in the classroom, being on the honour roll in both grade 10 and 11 and plans to study sciences at the University of Lethbridge.
 
As a bantam, Dyer was a member of a Provincial Championship team with the Calgary Fire – Bantam Elite and named the Most Valuable Player at the Championship.
 
After a bye this weekend, the Pronghorn women's hockey team returns to action next weekend to face the Mount Royal Cougars in a home-and-home set, starting in Lethbridge Friday November 8^th.
